Leg Veins - Smooth Skin Health Centre Hamilton - Advanced Technology

Leg veins appear as varicose veins, reticular veins, and spider veins. When describing leg veins, it is easiest to imagine each category as the root, the trunk, and the branches of a tree.

Leg Veins

The root being a Varicose vein, needs to be treated either by sclerotherapy (saline injections) or surgical vein stripping which are treatments that must be performed by a physician. Reticular veins can be described as the trunk and are more superficial “feeder” veins. These “trunk” veins feed the Spider veins or “branches”. Both Reticular and Spider veins are effectively and safely treated with the Fotona ND YAG 1064 laser application. Laser treatment for these vascular lesions is more favourable than injections as there is minimal side effects and the treatment is quick. Laser treatment poses no risk of hyper pigmentation if the area is exposed to the sun post-treatment and compression socks are not required directly after treatment, which is usually the case for Sclerotherapy.

Angiomas and Hemangiomas are collections of tiny blood vessels in a localized area. This condition is most common in women during pre and peri-menopause, but it can affect men as well. Angiomas and Hemangiomas lesions look like more of a predicament then they actually are. They are very safely and effectively treated with the Fotona ND YAG 1064 laser.
